Merchandise Research

As apart of Merchandise for our website, we researched several artists to gain a detailed perspective of what makes an amazing merchandise range, suitability to artist and pricing. We feel this can really assist us when creating our own Tori Merchandise.

Halfway Evaluation

Group Planning and Photos

Here is one of our first meetings together where we are discussing ideas about brand image, setting/locations, designated roles within the group and what we want to portray on with a visualize performance.

Preparation for our opening scene where a range of coloured light bulbs flick in time to the beat.

Group meeting with Miss Brookes to discuss current position of music video progress and the future of our filming schedule and ideas arrangement.

Weather Conditions

From following the shooting schedule and the days that as a group we could all commit to filming we had to take into consideration the weather which can impact light, suitability of shots and awkwardness bad weather can bring when trying to film. A couple of weeks ago we suffered from not being able to film from the weather conditions negatively impacting the extent to which we could film. However, as a group, we have decided to prepare for the weather conditions to make sure we can complete everything we plan to do. For example, the Monday of this week we all knew we could all film today (Wednesday 9th November) but the weather conditions would effect the suitability of filming in our locations. Therefore, the shots that we planned for today consisted of being in an inside location which means we can become more productive.

Cities Explanation

The meaning of the song 'Hold Me Down' is that Halsey (the artist) is forced to conform to society's expectations and what people want her to do and want her to look like, etc. In cities, there is typically strict structure and routine adopted by city workers - have to wake up at a certain time and have to get the same mode of transport every day. By choosing to place our artist in front of videos of different busy cities, we are showing an example, albeit one that is not extremely obvious, of a life that (stereotypically) has no room for freedom and experimentation - a place of "normal" jobs. Because we have placed the artist in front of the videos we are conveying that she wishes to break away from expectation of how she should be to what she really is and what she has a passion for.

Music Video Influence - Nickelback's Rockstar

As stated in a previous post, our song's meaning revolves around being forced to fit into society and being controlled somewhat like a 'doll' or just 'inhuman'. Because of this, we decided that we should incorporate a range of different people in society (different races, ethnicities, genders, classes and sexualities) and film them singing the song 'Hold Me Down' so that we can incorporate the footage into our video.

Our influence comes from the music video of Rockstar by Nickelback. The music video is below:

This video incorporates all different types of people to give the message that everyone wants to be a rockstar, which is said constantly throughout the song in the lyrics.

By doing this we will be widening the song's meaning from just being about an individual to about everyone in the world wanting to be able to do their own thing and look their own way without judgement. This then changes our artist from being a typical teenager who is expected to want to have a 'Star Profile' to one that wants to use their music for a wider purpose and to positively effect people globally.
